How Animal Reiki Can Help Your Pet
Reiki works by encouraging the natural flow of energy throughout the body. It doesn’t rely on physical manipulation, which makes it ideal for animals who are sensitive to touch, recovering from illness, or simply need emotional support.

Equine Reiki – Reiki for Horses
Horses are highly intuitive animals, and many respond incredibly well to equine reiki.
It can help with both emotional and physical imbalances, and is especially useful for horses who are recovering from injury, struggling with behaviour, or simply needing time to reset.

Equine reiki sessions are held at your yard or field. Horses remain loose or lightly tied, and they are free to move around or walk away as they wish. The session works best when the horse feels safe and unpressured.

Just like us, pets can hold onto stress or tension. Canine reiki and cat reiki are gentle ways to help animals relax, especially when they’re dealing with anxiety, ageing, or emotional changes.
Some common reasons pet owners book reiki for dogs and cats include:

- Grief or trauma (e.g. after moving house or losing a companion)
- Separation anxiety
- Chronic pain or age-related discomfort
- Nervous behaviour in rescue animals
Sessions usually take place in the animal’s own home, where they feel most at ease. I allow the animal to lead—some like hands-on contact, others prefer to lie nearby. Both are equally effective.
What to Expect from an Animal Reiki Session
An initial consultation will help us understand your animal’s needs and background. Each reiki treatment lasts around an hour, depending on how long the animal remains open to the session. The first session will be around 90 minutes, due to the need for an initial consultation.
You may notice subtle changes in your animal after their session—greater calm, deeper sleep, or a softening of behaviour. Others may respond over a longer period or after a few treatments.
You’re welcome to stay nearby during the session, and your animal is always free to come and go. I never force interaction—animal reiki is about working with the animal’s own willingness and instinct.
How Many Animal Reiki Sessions Are Needed?
The number of sessions depends entirely on the animal and what they’re experiencing. Some show signs of change after one session, while others benefit from ongoing support.
We’ll always discuss this openly and honestly—there’s no pressure or hard selling. My goal is to support your animal in a way that feels right for both of you.
